The internet is the main source most people use for making travel arrangements. The internet has opened up the possibilities for finding accommodations. Still, many people have been disappointed when they have secured Algarve villa rentals through the internet. They have arrived to Portugal only to find that the property was not the same as was promised to them when they reserved it through the internet. This can be avoided for travelers, though.
Travelers must keep in mind that when advertising on the internet, companies are free to say virtually anything they want. They can advertise a service in ways that are not honest, only to get people to spend their money on their product. That often leads the purchaser to feel taken advantage of, and for the vacation to be disappointing. Travelers must avoid this type of misleading advertising.
Many travelers have found that by using a local company, they can eliminate the problems associated with internet booking. When a local company is used, travelers are able to find a company that offers a service that is tailored to the area they are serving. That means they are able to focus all of their attention on that one area, which makes their service much better than the bigger companies.
Smaller, independent companies are often also more trustworthy for booking Algarve villa rentals. They depend more on repeat business from their customers, so they do more to offer a satisfying customer experience than many of their larger counterparts. They know they have to satisfy every customer in order to get him or her to come back, so they are willing to do everything they can to make their customers happy.
Many people fall into the trap of going with a larger business, only to be disappointed. Often, large businesses do not have to offer specialized service to their clients because they are worried about the bigger picture. They are not worried about just one person. If one person does not come back, it will not cause their business to falter.
The satisfaction of previous clients should also be researched before booking Algarve villa rentals through a company. A lot can be realized by checking testimonials of previous clients. If people have been happy in the past, that is a good indication that the company offers a great service. If clients have not had anything positive to say about the company, that shows that the company does not go above and beyond to ensure the happiness and satisfaction of clients.
Star Villa Holidays offers all of this and more. They are a local company that offers Algarve villa rentals. As a small independently run company, they are able to give the special attention to customers that clients need when traveling to a new place. They have a history of satisfying their customers, to the point that many customers have purchased their own property in the area and then allowed the company to place their clients in that property. Martin Thompson asked:
Holiday villas and apartments have become a popular alternative to Hotels and B&BS for tourists going on holiday. Advantages include greater privacy, the opportunity to cater for oneself, a more homely feel, more space and better value for money for groups and families. With so many opportunities to rent holiday accommodation in location like Majorca, Florida and the Algarve how do you choose just one property and get the most bang for your buck?
The first step is choosing a destination. If price is important then opt for a destination where rental accommodation is more affordable. Such destinations include Turkey, India and Nicaragua. In Europe there are often better deals in the north of Portugal and Spain than in the south and even cheaper properties in nearby Morocco.
Consider renting accommodation in an inland location. Often one can book larger villas with their own swimming pool at a lower price by avoiding the most high demand locations by the beach. Benefits can include a quieter, more rural location and with a hire car many beaches can still be reached after a short drive. As always location is everything when it comes to property so if you are prepared to compromise you can often get a better deal.
Renting in the shoulder seasons, in the spring or autumn is another excellent way to save money. With less demand for holiday villas and apartments during these periods you will be able to choose from a wider selection of properties and rates are usually a good 30% less then they are in the peak season. Furthermore it is often possible to get considerably better deals on hire cars and flights during the shoulder season so your total savings can add up.
Keep an eye out for accommodation rented directly by the property owners! Many rental properties are advertised by agencies who will take a proportion of the rent as their fee. Renting with the owners direct can save you money as some of these savings may be passed on to you. Property owners can often offer added value by providing you with insiders knowledge on the best places to eat out, places of special interest nearby, the best local beaches etc. and it can be reassuring to form a relationship with the owner and to have their contact details should any problems arise during your trip.
Book your flights early. By booking your airline tickets well in advance you should be able to secure a good deal. Research which low cost airlines (e.g. Easyjet and Ryanair) fly to your preferred destination and sign up with their mailing lists so they can notify you when flights go on sale. As a general rule it is always best to book flights at least two weeks in advance and midweek flights are often more affordable then those on the weekends or during holiday periods.
Use long tail search phrases. Search the internet using detailed search phrases rather than simple short terms. Try using quotation marks to force the inclusion of important attributes such as ?internet access?, ?a swimming pool? or a ?garden? in your search. Also, try including words like ?affordable?, ?value?, ?owner? and ?discount? in your search.
Prepare an email in notepad or your word processor with details of your holiday plans, the dates you would like to book and any important requirements. It never hurts to ask if it is possible to get a discount especially if you intend to stay for 2 or more weeks in the low or shoulder season and you could ask about feedback from previous guests. When you see a property you are interested in paste your email into the web form or your email program and send out plenty of emails. You should then receive further details about properties that are available and get a feeling for which renters are most responsive and helpful.
The next step is to telephone the owners of properties on your short list. Find out as much as you can about each property and get to know the people renting the property. Often you will find someone who you get on well with and feel comfortable doing business with.
Follow your instincts. If you feel good about a certain property and trust the person you have spoken with you should be confident to book with them. Once you know in your heart that you are working with trustworthy people and are happy with the offer you have been made you should be ready to reserve your rental villa or apartment and enjoy the final preparations for your holidays.
Do plenty of reading on the destination you intend to holiday at. There is a wealth of information online that will help you make plans for your holidays. Consider what you are going to do with your time and decide on some things you would like to do. Print out or jot down notes so that when you are on holiday you are prepared to make the most of your holidays. Finally when you set off on your vacation sit back and relax with the positive intention to enjoy your entire trip as much as possible.

David Lee Buster asked:
Villa in Portugal? If you are searching online for a villa in Portugal, you likely already know that staying in a Portugal villa is a thousand times better than staying a hotel room. Instead of a noisy cramped hotel room, you and your family or freinds will be so much more comfortable renting a country villa away from the noise and pollution of the city.
If you will be traveling in Portugal, you will be visiting the westernmost country in continental Europe that is located on the Iberian peninsula. Traveling in Portugal will have you near Spain to the north and the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south.
Portugal’s name was derived from the Latin name Portus Cale, which translated into English means a beautiful port. Portugal travel will definitely consist of experiencing travel in a beautiful country, enjoying centuries old towns, castles and wineries to superb beaches to modern cities with great food and entertainment. And that is where a villa in Portugal comes into play.
Prefer to stay in a cramped hotel room while on vacation? A Portugal villa means you will have more privacy, more space, more relaxation and more fun on your vacation!
For example, relaxing with your favorite beverage on the veranda of your villa in Portugal is a wonderful experience. Looking over a rural Portuguese country village is fun, is absolutely beautiful and you can see what the village really looks like. The clean air of a rural village and the peaceful kindness of the village people is something that everyone would like to be a part of. And besides, the veranda of your villa in Portugal offers a place to cook out and relax with friends if you choose.
The importance of privacy while on vacation cannot be overemphasized. Not only will you have your very own kitchen in a villa in Portugal, you will also have your own bathroom to use at your leisure. A hotel bathroom is constantly being used by everyone else and at times can get so congested. With your very own villa, the bathroom can be used at your leisure with no more sharing of just one bathroom with everyone else.
As for mornings, waking up in your villa can be a most pleasurable experience. You can listen to the noises that a rural Portuguese village provides. One of the most memorable experiences is hearing the rooster wake the village up in the morning. A fresh brewed cup of coffee, a tasty breakfast and the day awaits you as you take time off from life’s responsibilities.
One of the increasingly popular areas to visit in Portugal is the Alentejo area. The Alentejo region of Portugal is known as the agricultural region where Portugal’s food is grown. One can find some of the best of Portuguese culture as well as low priced restaurants with great food and inexpensive accommodations.
Quiet, calm and peaceful is often the reason for taking time off from work to recharge. We go on vacation to relax and unwind and a villa in Portugal can make that kind of vacation a reality. Take your time as you search for a villa in portugal to rent for your next holidays.
No matter where in the country of Portugal you plan to vacation, you can find one of the vacation rental villas that is just right for your next vacation. By far, the easiest and quickest way to find vacation rental homes is by using the internet. Whether you are visiting Portugal for the first time or you visit often, check out the villa in Portugal vacation home rentals for your next vacation stay.

The seaside village of Praia da Luz (pronounced loozh) lies in the western Algarve, Portugal only 6km west of the city of Lagos. Traditionally it has been a fishing village that specialised in octopus potting and Luz once had a Tuna canning factory by the beach. There was an early settlement hear and the Romans left their mark in the form of a bath house and aqueduct.
Today Luz is a small yet thriving beach resort with numerous waterside apartments & villas. The main attraction is Luz’s beach with its arced bay and stunning black igneous rock headland, left behind by the volcanoes at Monchique. It is a small place with several local bars and restaurants and 3 resort complexes with outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts. Two water sports centers at the eastern end of Luz beach rent out sailing boats, canoes and Luz also has a deep-sea diving centre and camping site.
Luz is an ideal place to head out for walks in the hills and countryside in the morning or late afternoon. It is also a great place to relax and listen to the birds and watch people go by sipping coffee by the beach. Time slips by slowly with the calm waves licking the golden sands and towards sunset the beach is virtually deserted making it one of the best times to swim in the clean Atlantic waters.
Outside of Luz you can make day trips to Lagos, Sagres and Monchique. There is a Market by the bus station in Lagos on Saturday mornings where one can buy locally produced organic fruit and vegetables. Also stock up on fresh fish for the barbecue at the daily fish market in Lagos. An ideal spot to eat out, have coffee or ice cream in the evenings Lagos has a pedestrianised centre and a lively night life. The last bus into Lagos is at around 7PM from the bus stop by the church and Taxis back are affordable costing around 7 Euros.
Monchique is a mountain range about an hours drive from Praia da Luz and makes an ideal place to visit in the afternoon and evening. The Caldes de Monchique are therapeutic thermal baths and the mountains cooler climate and woods are a beautiful place to take long walks. Roadside restaurants offer great value meals and the local brandy, cakes and wild boar are local specialties.

Bert Snijder asked:
The little country town of Alvito, 10 km. south of Viana do Alentejo, boasts a parish church with magnificent 17th C. azulejo decoration and a fine fortified castle (15th C.) built by the Marques of Alvito. The castle has recently been converted into a pousada.
There are local festas (festivals) in the town of Alvito on the last Sunday of August and again on 1 and 2 of November.
These festas are usually accompanied by letting off many rockets which were used before the days of watches to summon the people to the processions or the festivities.
In the area are nature trails. Excursions by bicycle, horse or canoe can be arranged.
A pleasant place to visit is the Barragem do Alvito where the cool waters of the dam make a pleasant contrast to the Alentejo plains.
A brief History:
The oldest known human traces in the Council area date back to the Neolithic period, with vestiges that, bear witness to the presence of humankind during the Copper, Bronze and Iron Ages. Intensive occupation came about with the Romans, soon after the beginning of the 1 st Century AD, with various remains, such as the villas of S. Romao, S. Francisco and Malk Abraao, a testament to their presence. In 1251 the settlement was given to D. Estevao Anes, the Principal Charncellor of the kingdom, by King Afonso III and by the Pestanas of Evora.
From this date began an increase in the number of inhabitants, particularly under the influence of the Chancellor, providing Alvito with a considerable population for the period. In 1279, D, Estevao Anes died, bequeathing the town to the Order of the Holy Trinity, providing with its charter was ratified King Dirism in 1283. In 1357, King Joao I gave Alvito to D. Diogo Lobo in reward for the services he provided in the battle of Aljuba55ota (1385) and inconquering Evora from the Spanish (1387). The town was associated with the history of this family throughout the whole period of the monarchy.
On 24th April 1475, King Afonso V awarded the title of Baron to DR. Joao Fernandes da Silveira, husband of D. Maria de Sousa Lobo, making Alvito the seat of the first barony instituted in Portugal.
Come and visit the Feira dos Santos/ Frutos Secos (Fair of the Saints/of dried fruits and 11 This is the final fair to take place each year in the Alentejo region. Its intense commercial activity contributed greatly to the enormous prestige enjoyed by the region as a whole.
At a time when most fairs have gradually been transformed into centries simply for pleasure and entertainment, the Feira dos Santos / Frutos Secos, as well as having these characteristics, combines a commercial focus with place to meet friends, as is year after year.
Dried fruit and nuts, clothing, agricultural Implements and machinery and articles for the home are examples of the commercial focus that characterises the Feira dos Santos, and brings thousands of people to Alvito during the fair from all over the country. At the same time, there has also been a major commitment to providing the fair with cultural and traditional activities which are worthy of its great prestige.
So, visiting the Feira dos Santos / Frutos Secos is a “must”, and the best way to get to know Alvito, its beauty and its heritage.

Derek Dunne asked:
Imagine the clear blue sky, the crystal clear blue water of the pool glistening in the unbroken sunshine; imagine the bright white painted walls, the archways and the shiny, clean tiles of the terrace leading through to clean, sleek lines of a property, with modern fittings and luxurious furnishings.
Imagine holiday villas. Imagine sun-soaked destinations such Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Morocco, Malta, Turkey, but also imagine somewhere a little different: maybe a destination for skiing, walking, culture, golf or a combination of some or all of them: France, Austria, Germany, Ireland, the Czech Republic.
Hiring holiday villas in such wonderful destinations can give you a taste of luxury for one, two weeks or more in a location you might not otherwise be able to sample. Renting gives you the privacy of your own personal space without the worries of ownership. You and your family might never have experienced anything like it before, but it is almost certain that you would want to do so again.
In a hotel you have one room for your privacy, but every other facility you have to share with other guests; the pool, dining room and sun terraces may be at the other end of the hotel and you have to share them all with strangers. In a villa, it is so different: you have many rooms for the use of you, your family and any other guests that you have invited; your dining room is one of those rooms; your private terrace and (in most cases) your own pool is right on your doorstep.
Villas can range from beachside to mountain foothills, from single bedrooms sleeping two to many bedrooms sleeping more than a dozen. The things they have in common are good living and private luxury.
Can you see yourself rising in the morning, getting yourself a glass of chilled juice and watching the sunlight glinting on the sea?
Or is your vision for a relaxing evening barbecue with a backdrop of the beautifully lit mountain landscape after a day spent walking in glorious countryside?
If you don’t want to travel abroad, then there is a great selection of holiday villas in this country too. Some are big enough for either a corporate gathering, a family re-union, or somewhere to relax with your closest and dearest friends. You can get holiday villas luxurious enough to have a formal lounge, a dining room, an indoor heated swimming pool, a sauna, a gymnasium and even a cinema! Such properties could be used for wedding parties, or golden wedding anniversary celebrations, for example. Take advantage of services that can make your stay even more special: a chef, a chauffeur, maids, a marquee … even a helicopter pad! Not all holiday villas are like that, but shop around to find a holiday villa that really does suit your requirements.
There are such a range of opportunities available in holiday villas that you could spend hours surfing the internet and letting your imagination give you a preview! Live the dream! Get yourself booked into a holiday villa for your next vacation.

Carl Brewer asked:
The ever-increasing pace of life has made it even more stressful to make a living nowadays. The problems and pressures of holding a job while maintaining a healthy personal life is relatively harder now and this can eventually take a toll on our health.
Indeed, keeping-up with the rat-race is more grueling than ever. A record number of people have been applying for welfare cards and folks have been hocking their extra stuff for extra money. In fact, pawnshops in the U.S.
Indeed, people have been forced to make a few lifestyle changes to cope with financial hardship. If you’re one of those overworked folks that have been seeing too much of your cubicle and desperately need a break then this is wonderful news.
The price of aviation fuel fell with the lowering of crude oil and airline tickets aren’t at ridiculous rates anymore. Going out to see the world is the best way to release all that pent-up stress and pressure you culled toiling away in the office.
Sure, there may be local beaches accessible by car, but not having to share your breathing space and the ambiance with noisy, obnoxious drunks makes paying extra for air fare to travel to an isolated tropical paradise is well worth the money.
Renting a private villa in the Algarve located on the southern tip of the beautiful and historical country of Portugal sounds like something that will set you back half a year’s worth of pay, but prices for the smaller-sized ones are quite reasonable considering they offer you a stunning view of one of the Iberian Peninsula’s most breathtaking panoramas.
The Algarve, like the rest of Portugal is rich in history. Christians and Moors have been wresting it from each other’s grasps during the olden times and its name actually came from the Muslim word Al-Gharb, which means “the West”. This has made the Algarve a favorite vacation spot for British tourists since the 60’s.
The region is chock-full of hills and valleys with limestone caves, isles and inlets which provide the picturesque view from any of the private villas nestled on the lush, green hillsides. If you get bored of sitting around taking in all the majestic splendor of the Portuguese landscape, you can venture out of your luxury villa and visit any of the several municipalities there. Play a round of golf in the network of golf courses, or ride a small boat and get material for your blog or Facebook account by picture-taking amongst the limestone grottos and the exotic birds which make a 170 sq-km lagoon and nature reserve their playground in the Algarve.
When it’s time to call it a day, don’t worry about coming home to a hermit’s lair. Private villa rental doesn’t mean you’re going to be cut-off from the world when you’re in your luxurious, landscaped hideaway.
Stretching for miles along the southern coast of Portugal bordering both the Atlantic and Mediterranean oceans lies the beautiful, cultured Algarve. Portugal’s most popular holiday destination, the Algarve, has excellent clean beaches and is reasonably affordable and safe holiday destination. There are choices of destinations in the Algarve to suit everyone, attractive to couples, families and sports enthusiasts.
Energetic Albufeira has several breathtaking beaches fantastic for those seeking sunshine daytime and partying into the late hours. For those wanting to seek adventure there are some traditionally interesting towns picturesque little villages and cafes.
Charming Carvoeiro is an attractive resort superb for families offering good local cuisine and mouth watering restaurants, or maybe the beautiful beaches and delightful villages of Praia Da Rocha. Stylish Vilamoura is a must for those seeking luxury, exclusiveness and some of the sophisticated sporting facilities.
Algarve is fabulous for hungry sporting enthusiasts; golfers, water sports, tennis, horse riding, fishing and much, much more. With its fabulous sunshine Algarve boasts the best exclusive golf courses making Algarve holidays attractive to all kinds of holiday makers. There are great family days out to plenty of theme parks to entertain the family, go-karting, dolphin watching and a great family favourite are the excellent water parks.
Attractive, exciting and affordable are three words to sum up the Algarve.

Seb Palmer asked:
Owners of villas in France, Spain and the Algarve who come to us do so for two reasons: firstly they don’t know how to market their house, and secondly, they worry about damage to their house. Agents can help with both of those things to some extent, but are they worth the commission? The answer is it depends.
Marketing is more than just advertising. The villa rental market in Europe is now very price sensitive, at all levels. Customers do their research and know precisely what a villa is worth. Set your pricing too high and your house will stand empty: set it too low and you will be full by March and wish you had asked more. A good agent can tell you what it is worth and has a lot of data on which to base that advice. But do your research and you will know what your villa is worth as well. If you are confident in your ability to do that then you can save yourself a commission.
You might need help describing your villa to the best effect. For example, your views might be stunning, but sadly that is not worth much in the market these days - to some customers ’stunning views’ sounds like something that people say when they can’t think of anything else to say. In an oversupplied marketplace you need to make a house stand out.
Choice of tenants is the area where agents can really add a lot. Letting your pride and joy to strangers can be scary to the uninitiated. Established agencies have long lists of happy customers who come back year after year, and whom they know often personally. If you are going to let strangers stay in your house then it is comforting to know that at least they are friends of friends.
The position of agents in the market used to be controlled by marketing media. Press advertising and publishing brochures is expensive, and in the pre-Internet world it was prohibitive for individual owners. The Internet has changed the villa rentals industry for good by making maPalmerketing accessible to non-tech-savvy owners: all you need to do is make a website (most children can do that bit) and open and Adwords account: bid 50p a click for a very specific keyword that the most qualified leads will be searching on, and you will probably do OK. But probably is not good enough for some people: if your holiday villa budgeting is dependent on holiday lettings (unwise but sometimes necessary) then you need to be sure that some professional person will take responsibility for it.
If you do decide to use an agent, you can go one of two ways. Either you will make an exclusive deal with an agent who is prepared to commit to a certain number of weeks per year, or you will operate on an ad hoc basis, typically with more than one agent offering your house. Agents who are prepared to risk the former and few and far between, and the few that are around will typically offer much less than the house is worth, but it is also the worry-free option. Probably the best of both worlds is to use agents and offer yourself: that way you acquire the judgement you need and still have somebody to advise you and take an interest in achieving a good return on your investment.
