Fake Tan - The best way to have a glowing bronze hue on your summer holiday comes out of a bottle. A few tips, add some moisturizer for the first few times until you get used to using a new brand. Sunscreen - Exposure to ultraviolet light, UVA or UVB, from sunlight accounts for 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging including skin cancers and wrinkles. So there you have it, sun exposure causes wrinkles….if that’s not enough reason for you to slap on the 30+, I don’t know what is. Most people use sunscreen improperly by not applying enough applying only 25% to 50% of the recommended amount. Sunscreen should be applied liberally enough to all sun-exposed areas that it forms a visible layer on initial application. Applying 30 minutes before going out in the sun is ideal as it takes 20-30 minutes for sunscreen to be absorbed by the skin. Sunscreen should also be applied over moisturizers and foundations, especially on the face since some sunscreens can break down in the presence of water contained in these products.

Last week I found an interesting email in my inbox from a long lost friend. This friend wanted me to propose, or rather help them decide, where to on holiday this summer. The email went like “Buddy really want to see new things and go to new places this summer. I need to get out and experience new things! Where do you go? The other problem is that with Knight gone, I don’t have anybody to go hangout with. I would love to meet new people. Can you help out?”

This email has kept me thinking the whole weekend. I have reproduced below the abridged version of the notes I sent to my friend in distress, for the benefit of those British tourists running late with plans for their summer holidays.

How many times have you felt like you haven’t really taken advantage of living in your very own beautiful city? Often we get comfortable in our routine and hang out at home or down the pub. We have done the zoo a few times and stuff like that. The often-recited reason is the rhetorical question, but what other things are there to do in this city? Perhaps, spooked by horror tales of tourists being attacked abroad, we have tended to stay within our comfort zones.

Summer can be long if you do not plan ahead. Clearly, this summer will be more expensive than the last for travellers. In fact, some experts think that travelling this summer will be pricier than at any time in the past decade since the euro was introduced. About four million Britons go on holiday in the eurozone each year. The prediction is that due to recent changes in the value of the pound versus the euro, trips to eurozone will cost extra. No wonder British holidaymakers are looking at the US this summer, where the pound still buys two dollars. Travel operators are hinting that non-euro destinations are getting a fair share of British tourists this time round compared to last summer.

So for those going to the USA and Canada, the pull factor is that the pound will give more.Tthe exchange rate is good: almost 2 dollars to the pound. So what is the pound likely to buy you in the USA or Canada? The cities are buzzing, there are parties everywhere. You can generally get to a beach for little money, or the mountains; hiking is relatively inexpensive.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of locations have free concerts. Get the local paper; it is a good source of information for cheap entertainment. If you like good food and beautiful surroundings, these two destinations will offer you the best. If you are looking for fun and adventure, then you will need to consult more travel web sites for both last minute cheap flights and hotels and also for less packaged trips. Over-packaged trips can tend to be boring and restrictive if you are adventurous.

Lastly, don’t forget an African safari holiday. The pound is very strong here and you will get a lot out of your holiday money. A trip to Maasai Mara national Park, Tsavo Park, and Serengeti National Park all in East Africa are good destinations. Especially this summer because beds are half empty due to tourists staying away early in the year after the political crises in Kenya. But now the situation has gone back to normal, check all relevant web sites.

Many people today are buying holiday homes, not really for somewhere to stay when they decide to go on holiday but instead as a worthwhile investment in terms of property prices and rental income. Holiday homes are a large financial investment so there is little wonder why so many people are realising the potential to make money from their holiday homes during the times when they are working and unable to reside in their home from home.

The dream of having a holiday home that you can rent during the times you are not there and enjoy when you are ready to make the trip is enticing. There are however factors that must be considered that you may not be aware of when the idea is formulating in your mind. There may be high outgoings, insurance premiums to settle and management fees for rental homes. Added to this, holiday homes now fall under a separate council tax code, in some places as much as ninety percent of the residential council tax.

The first thing to remember when looking at holiday homes is to choose a good location, whether at home or abroad you should pick a location that will be popular with tourists. Depending on how much you plan to rent out the house, the type of resort is also worth considering, for instance a beach resort will only really be popular during summer months, but in those summer months will be extremely busy. On the other hand a property in the hills that will be popular with walkers will be used all year round but most probably not constantly.

It is only really worth looking at holiday homes with two or three bedrooms. Most people who will want to rent your property will be families who will need the space. A one bedroom apartment or flat will seriously restrict its profit potential. In comparison buying a huge six bedroom property will also damage profits as most people rarely need more bedrooms than three or four when on holiday.

When picking the mortgage for your holiday home choose an interest only option, the interest can be set against tax for second properties. If you have a large amount of money that you will be investing it is more advisable to use the sum to pay more of your main homes mortgage than the mortgage on your summer cottage.

When renting it is worth employing a letting agent who specifically deals with holiday homes. If you do not there will be a lot of hard work involved in the management of your property. Repairs, handing over keys and as well as emergencies such as burst pipes and people being locked are all inconveniences that will make your property seem more of a hindrance than a pleasure. It may be an extra charge but the peace of mind and stress free approach is a worthy alternative than constantly travelling back and forth to the property.

The property must also be up to date at all times, items such as dishwashers and CD players may have been luxury items ten years ago but they now come as standard. Most importantly however is ensuring that the fire precautions are met as hefty legal requirements have put the responsibility firmly in the hands of the landlord. Making sure fire extinguishers and smoke detectors are in good working order are all part of keeping a safe property. Getting the right insurance cover to cope with anything that guests may cause is also essential.

If you follow this advice there is no reason that you will not be as successful as the hoards of people who have already purchased holiday homes. Understanding your own responsibilities to your tenants is vital and will make for stress free arrangements. Also finding the right property is vital for your holiday home to be an added income, rather than an financial drain.
